SEDE GMU MALAGA
Urban planning administrative building in Malaga/Spain.
A new urban planning administration building is being built at a cost of around EUR 18 million in the immediate vicinity of the city port.
Originally it was planned to use fixed glass lamellas for shading, however following intensive consulting, the customer was convinced of the enormous advantages with regard to building climatization of a mobile system. As a result GIG received an order for the delivery and installation of some 7.000 m² of horizontal glastec system lamellas.
Pre-assembled supports are mounted between the ceilings of the various floors by means of consoles and then the motor-driven drive shafts and glass lamellas are installed. Roughly 50 per cent of the glass panes have been fitted with an intermediate matt film and these are to be distributed at irregular intervals across the entire facade. In combination with its idiosyncratic geometry, this interplay between matt and shining glass will thus lend the building a unique appearance.
