OFFICE BUILDING KRAANSPOOR

When the activities of the port of Amsterdam moved west in the 1980s, unused wharfs and a desolate industrial site were left behind in the north of the city. The city planners saw the creation of a new commercial area as a way out of this situation.

An unusual building has been created, the Kraanspoor (Crane Track), through the retention and conversion of a disused ship’s crane facility as part of a steel and glass office block.
