KLUBHAUS ST. PAULI HAMBURG

Media facade for Clubhouse St. Pauli Hamburg.

Absolutely unique is the media facade of the newly built Clubhouse St. Pauli, which will delight millions of Reeperbahn-visitors every year. This mixed-use building is the new home for live music clubs as well as companies of the music industry, a radio station and a small theatre.

The facade consists of individual gold coated and recessed metal elements. Delicate design enables the view to the outside and creates a pleasant atmosphere inside at daytime.

To awaken the façade with light to life, diverse integrated systems have been developed and produced by our employer Multivision. The surface illumination of individually recordable elements is provided by non-visible lights with a special lens for precise light control. The highlight are pixel lines that transform the façade into a giant screen, and they serve for effect transmission of light and video installations, but also program notes of the Clubhouse, Twitter messages or commercials can be transported over the media facade. Just for the 1,650 lines of pixels on the façade, 11 different luminaire versions were used. The individual LED boards shine obliquely downward and so they ensure optimum visibility from Spielbudenplatz. A black cast layer protects the electronics from climatic influences and provides more contrast and an elegant appearance.

The spectacular 700 sqm Media facade on Reeperbahn was opened in September 2015 at the opening of the 10th Reeperbahn Festival with a gigantic sound and light show. Thousands gathered on Spielbudenplatz and witnessed a spectacle of superlatives.
