Hauptbahnhof Vienna

Hauptbahnhof Vienna

Plenty of light, air, and attractive aesthetics.

The platform roofs at the new central Railway Station in Vienna were equipped with façade and roof glazing by GIG.

The glass louvres embedded in the façade areas between the train platform canopies are motorised and can be used for natural ventilation and besides the daily ventilation they provide quick heat extraction in case of fire.

In total GIG built approximately 1,300 m² glass roofs and approx. 900 m² glass louvre façades for the new transportation hub.
