Closed-Cavity-Façades

Closed System, free Design Possibilities

An especially exciting topic in metal construction is the innovative Closed-Cavity-Façade (CCF). Also known as the closed cavity façade, it is a groundbreaking technology in the field of modern metal construction and architecture. This façade system is a crucial aspect for energy-efficient building use while simultaneously increasing room comfort.

Sophisticated Construction Full of Light and Air

The construction principle is based on a 2-shell element façade system consisting of interior insulating glazing and impact discs on the street side. The façade cavity is almost completely sealed and has no constructed openings inward or outward. To prevent condensation on the surfaces in this dense cavity under different weather conditions, this cavity is supplied with preconditioned dry air. The air supply is centralized using compressor air, and dry air is transported to the façade elements via vertical and horizontal distribution lines with slight overpressure.

In the conditioned façade cavity, there is space for sun protection systems, which are installed here under weather-protected conditions.

Absolute Cleanliness and Minimal Cleaning Effort

Our manufacturing process ensures that nothing remains in the façade cavity except air. Essential for all components installed in the façade cavity is that they are low-wear and do not generate abrasion. Since the façade cavity is sealed off from the environment, it and the sun protection systems inside cannot become dirty and therefore require no cleaning. Compared to open 2-shell façades, this means a saving of 60-80% in cleaning costs!

With CCF, you can save up to 60% on cleaning costs!

A CCF from GIG stands for sustainably better energy efficiency

One of the outstanding advantages of the Closed-Cavity-Façade is the improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings. The closed cavities serve as natural heat and cold insulators, leading to better temperature regulation inside the building. Optionally, sun protection can be installed in the façade cavity, which can be used independently of weather conditions (e.g., during foehn winds). This not only optimizes heating and cooling costs but also contributes to reducing the CO2 footprint – crucial in times of increasing sustainability requirements!

Aesthetics and Individuality

The Closed-Cavity-Façade offers architects and designers a wide range of design possibilities. By combining different materials, surface structures, and colors, unique and appealing facades can be created, making every building a highlight. Regarding the sun protection system, there is a wide range of options from light redirecting louvers to traditional external blinds to zip screens.
