Österreichischer Metallbaupreis 2026 - Winner GIG Fassaden

The “Österreichischer Metallbaupreis” is a prestigious industry award that recognizes outstanding achievements in metal construction. It honors projects distinguished by exceptional quality, innovation, technical excellence, and architectural value, highlighting the capabilities of leading companies in the sector.

Award-winning project story

Following the completion of the Power Tower of Energie AG more than fifteen years ago, its success story has been consistently continued with the extension. For the original building, a high-tech façade system was developed in collaboration with GIG, setting new standards in efficiency and transparency.

For the extension, the architect and the client once again conducted a comprehensive evaluation – with the same result: the GIG Closed-Cavity Façade (CCF) proved to be the ideal solution once more.

The challenge was to create a highly transparent high-rise façade that, despite strong wind loads, ensures reliable solar shading, maximum energy efficiency, and minimal maintenance requirements. The GIG CCF® is a state-of-the-art, prefabricated double-skin façade system with a sealed cavity filled with dry air between the inner and outer glazing. This prevents condensation, permanently protects the blinds, and significantly reduces maintenance efforts.

The system combines transparency, thermal and acoustic performance, and low operating and cleaning costs, while also making an important contribution to meeting current energy and climate targets.

AMFT Metallbaupreis 2024 in the category over €1 million

“TThe winning of the Metallbaupreis fills us with great joy and gratitude. This recognition is a particular honor for us and, at the same time, a sign of appreciation for our daily commitment to quality, innovation, and craftsmanship precision.”

Gerhard Haidinger, Managing Director

The core of our façade technology

The Closed Cavity Façade combines architectural freedom with high energy efficiency, dependable performance, and long-term economic viability.

Build more sustainable

The CCF acts as a natural thermal and cooling insulator. This results in optimized temperature regulation, significantly reduces heating and cooling costs, and lowers the building’s CO₂ footprint – a key factor in modern green building.

“The Closed Cavity Façade is a key element for energy-efficient building operation while simultaneously enhancing indoor comfort.”

Innovation that sets a precedent

GIG offers the full range of services, from planning and engineering through prototyping to installation and long-term maintenance.
