Österreichischer Metallbaupreis 2026 und AGPB Award

Awards

Two of our projects have been honored with prestigious awards: the 90 Long Acre project in London received the AGPB Award, while the extension of the Power Tower in Linz was awarded the “Österreichischer Metallbaupreis 2026”.

Both awards highlight the high standards of quality, innovation, and technical excellence that define our projects.

90 Long Acre, London

Austrian Green Planet Building Award

90 Long Acre, London

Located in the heart of London’s West End, the 1970s office building The Acre was extensively revitalized and transformed into a modern, sustainable office building under the name 90 Long Acre. Approximately 80 percent of the existing building structure was retained throughout the redevelopment.

The refurbishment focused on reducing energy consumption, implementing intelligent energy concepts, and integrating sustainable solutions such as blue roofs for rainwater management. A key contribution was made by the new building envelope, featuring highly precise prefabricated unitized façade elements specifically tailored to the requirements of the existing structure.

The combination of sustainable revitalization, technological innovation, and sophisticated façade engineering has made 90 Long Acre an internationally recognized showcase project. For this forward-looking solution, GIG was honored with the Austrian Green Planet Building Award 2026 in the Technology category.

Zubau Power Tower, Linz

"Österreichischer Metallbaupreis 2026"

Power Tower Extension, Linz

More than fifteen years after the completion of Energie AG’s Power Tower, its success story has been consistently continued with the new extension. For the original building, GIG and the project team jointly developed a high-tech façade system that set new standards in efficiency and transparency.

For the extension, the architect and the client once again evaluated the available façade solutions—and reached the same conclusion: the GIG Closed-Cavity Façade (CCF®) once again proved to be the ideal choice.

The challenge was to create a highly transparent high-rise façade that would provide reliable solar shading, maximum energy efficiency, and minimal maintenance requirements despite significant wind loads. The GIG CCF® is a state-of-the-art prefabricated double-skin façade system featuring a sealed cavity filled with dry air between the inner and outer panes of glass. This design prevents condensation, permanently protects the integrated blinds, and significantly reduces maintenance requirements.

The system combines outstanding transparency with excellent thermal and acoustic performance, while also ensuring low operating and cleaning costs. At the same time, it makes an important contribution to meeting today’s energy efficiency and climate objectives.
