Grand Arcade, Cambridge

The sophisticated architecture of the Grand Arcade shopping centre in the heart of Cambridge was designed by the renowned architectural firm Chapman Taylor Architects. The combination of sensitive design and state-of-the-art technology blends harmoniously with the city’s historic character.

By delivering the façades of the Grand Arcade in Cambridge, GIG realised an architecturally ambitious project characterised by considerable structural and design diversity.

More than 20 different façade types were designed and installed in the arcade and car park areas. Materials and systems used included Profilit channel glass, patinated copper sheets, fire-retardant wood panels and aluminium window systems.

The combination of different materials and façade systems required the highest levels of precision in planning, coordination and execution.
